New moons are usually a great time for new beginnings but this new moon comes with a cautionary note.
The new moon occurs on October 19, 2017 at 2:11 p.m. Central Daylight Time in 26° Libra. Normally the new moon in Libra is excellent for beginning projects that relate to putting things into balance such as relationships, artistic pursuits, and home furnishing feng shui or decor.
This month's new moon is in opposition to Uranus at 26° Aries. Uranus in square or opposition means "unexpected changes of plan" which is in effect approximately 3 days on either side of October 19th. Some changes of plan can be wonderful surprises. Others are sudden changes in course that require us to be flexible.
One of the symbols for Uranus in a cardinal sign like Aries is "the flow of electricity." Two images that come to mind are a lightning strike or electricity running through a wire. Those images should make you think twice about going out in a lightning storm or sticking a fork in your toaster at this time.
The same symbols also relate to the lightning strike of a brilliant idea or the light bulb going on. Therefore Uranus aspects are wonderful for brainstorming. The key principle is write down all your ideas no matter how far out or impractical. Keep yourself from acting on them instantly. Wait and look at those ideas again later to see which have practical value and align with your goals.
With Saturn (23° Sagittarius) in a sextile to the new moon and in trine to Uranus it's possible to use discipline to harness the energy for practical purposes.
